Introduction to Pattern Technology

Assignment 1: 

Task 1 (Preparation of the Main Basic Block (Top Block)

In conclusion, throughout this assignment process, I experienced both challenges and progress that helped me learn more about pattern-making and time management. From facing technical issues such as missing files and confusing measurements, to dealing with physical exhaustion, these obstacles tested my patience and problem-solving skills. However, despite these setbacks, I was able to adapt, restart when necessary, and complete my work on time. Moving forward, I feel more confident in handling pattern development and plan my workflow better, especially as I continue with the master pattern for my second look. This process has taught me the importance of saving work properly, staying patient, and pushing through difficulties to achieve my goals.

Assignment 2: 

Task 2 (Physical Toil)

In conclusion, during this phase of the project, I was able to make significant progress on both of my looks. With guidance from Ms. Shaima, I successfully completed the pattern development for my second look, starting from the inner piece to the outer dress. Although my first look toile is not yet final and still requires adjustments such as zipper installation, sizing refinements, and careful sleeve finishing, this process helped me identify areas that need improvement before working on the actual fabric. Despite encountering miscommunication regarding the construction of the first look, I managed to adapt by adjusting my draping approach and planning further refinements. Overall, this stage allowed me to reflect on construction details more carefully and better prepare for the final execution of both looks.

Fashion Project 2

                            Task 1 (Research & Design): Week 1- Week 3

Week 1 (24/09/2025): 

Today is our first day dor Fashion Project 2. Although we are collaborating with another brand whic is Converse but i felt more chill compared to fashion project 2, since we are not in rush. This semester, converse want us to design a RTW Atheleisure but also using converse shoes that are not being used again. They gave us total abaout 9 boxes of unuse  shoes (mostly converse) and told us to make a design using that shoes and also design something inspired from Converse's shoes. It's quite challenging since we need to use actually shoes to aply it on our design.But first of all, he told us to do the brand research first to submit next week and also told us to start thinking what shoe model and our subject matter that we want to use for this project.

Week 2 (01/10/2025): 

we begun our day by do a presentation of our converse research and idea, however only few people are able to do presentation including me. Base on my presentation, Jr said that i need to find out why i choose "frankeistein" as my subject matter, and explain the meaning behind it, so im trying to figuring it out. Other than that, for me  the challange for me i im using "frankeistein" to my project is how i turn it into something that is "me" which more bold but elegant rather than gothic dark. After presentation, we started to do the draping by using the shoes that we deconstructed previously. It is quite tricky at first, cuz we need to imagine using the shoes that we pinned, but at the end of the day, i manage to drape 5 different looks.

Week 3 (08/10/2025): 

 Today i finished the 10 initial draping manipulation, and JR said the next step is we need to doodle eaither on the paper or ipad our draping initial base on our subject matter. Actually i know what kind of sketch i want to draw, but its pretty hard to adjust because we need to adjust also the design base on the shoes we drape. However im able to do it, eventhough there are some designs that i improved.

 Task 2 (Texture manipulation): Week 3- Week 6

Week 4 (15/10/2025):

Today i showed JR my doodle and turns out he adviced me with new manipulation technique which i need to "redo" by adjusting the sketch with his ideas then we can decided 3 looks to developed. For The colour, he actually like it but he likes the green moss colour and also told me to do the red thrrread for the manipulation. And there is slightly change for the fabric manipulation, which i need to play with threads for the samples. He also recommended me using cotton fabric like cotton drill, rayon, or can khaki fabrics.

Week 5 (22/10/2025):

Today Sir Jr already choosed 3 looks for me for developed and also i showed the fabric that i bought to start my manipulation and he likes it, and now im going to start my first manipulation. However i forgot to buy the red fabric so im kinda confuse what to do right now, but i will do other idea while waiting to buy the red fabric. Gladly i finished my first manipulation on the same day so i have 2 samples left.

Week 6 (29/10/2025):

Today sir jr targeted us to do our final drawing and also the technical drawing since tommorow we will going to have pattern making class. On the other hand, i continued to do my second fabric manipulation and almost done with it. Slowly i also started my third manipulation, although i cant finished it yet cause im tired and planning to do it back at home.

Week 7 (05/11/2025):

Today i continue to do my second look pattern, and i started to use the sleeve pattern that i used from the previous semester since im still using the fitted sleeve for this semester. However, when i trace my  woman bodice and i just found out that the arm hole from the bodice and sleeve that i use is different so i change and adjust the sleeve pattern so it can fit into my bodice later.  

Week 8 (12/11/2025):

Today, i started to cut my first look test fit. At first, it was pretty confusing since my looks are not symetrical, so i was confused about the left and right part. However i able to manage it and im done cutting the pattern and planning to sew it tommorow. On the other hand, i also started to transfer my second top look pattern into the paper and cut it, so iall i need to do left is trace the bottom also and continue sew my first look then my second look.

Week 9 (19/11/2025):

Today, after finishing my first look toile, I’m planning to finish my first look with the actual fabric first then I will start my second look toile. So today I finalize my master plan look one by doing some of adjustment base on what should I revised on the toile. Then, I cut some of the dress part, however I was I bit confuse on the inner pattern so I’m planning to ask my shaima’s guide tommorow.

Week 10 (26/11/2025):

Today, i finished to do the dress base front and back for the first actual look and also done doing the net with red thread fabric, however i didnt attach the long black skirt yet because there's a few adjustment on the skirt since its a bit baggy on the hip line.In addtion, i havent gather also the facing since i need to gather the first and back look.

Week 11 (3/12/2025):

Week 12 (10/12/2025):

Today i finished my manipulation and also put button and hole on the net part. Actually im planning to finish it complitly today but since for the las step is putting lineing and the zipper together kinda confusing for me, i wanted to as Ms Shaima, but turns out she went back earlier because she doesnt felling well. So im going to continue it on friday and while waiting for it, i continue to slowly start my second look and also do my ikea bag handles.

Week 13 (17/12/2025):

Today, after finishing my testfit pants, i continue to do the actual one, also since i am already pretty sure with my top pattern for the second look, i didnt make the toile and make it using the actual fabrics.

Today, i am almost done with both of my look, but now im focusing on the second look's top, i have gathered the shoes and the top and im finished witih doing the fabric manipulation, all i need to do is asking for Jr's opinion and also start to prepare the presentation.

Task 1 (Fashion Ethic Code of Practice): Week 2 - Week 4

Week 1 (22/09/2025): 

Today is my very first class with Mr. Daniel. He explained the module's objectives and also outlined what we should do, particularly for each assignment. Our first assignment is about incorporating ethical values into the fashion process. Basically, he told us to choose one waste material and we need to recycle it into laptop sleeves. And I already got my idea, which is using cigarettes. He told me that's a good idea, but I need to be ready for the smell of the smoke butts. After that he also explained about our second assignment which is, trip to a factory and we need to make a report. Lastly, he explained about the last task we should do which is recycling ikea bag into new bag. He also showed the seniors' bags that they made from last semester.

Week 2 (29/09/2025): 

Today, we were conducting our one-on-one consultation with Sir Daniel, as it was not possible to do a presentation. after seeing my presentation, he adviced me to add more information about the waste usage of the box, wrapper plastic, and inner layer of it. I immediatly do some revised, however its quite hard to find the information for it, beacuse most of them are focusing on the cigarettes waste rather than the other components. Because of that, im doing the other part of the presentation, which is moodboard, design concept, and production process. I also add more image that help to imagine the text and also highlights to some keywords since sir Daniel said it is better as a design student to have "more" visual.

Week 3 (06/10/2025): 

Today we continued to show our presentation update and also showed him about our design process that we are going to do. After discussing and showing the cigarettes trash that i gather, we conclued that i need to change my initial plan which i wanted to use the cigarette box and the cigarette butt and he suggested me to use the filter, the butts, and also the tobacco water that i used to rinse the cigarattes to dye my fabric. So i will have 2 different layers. I liked the latest plan more because its more clear about what should i do and i prefer for that idea more. He also advice me to glue it using spray mount. After the consultation, he continued to give us lecture about sustainable marketing.

Week 4 (13/10/2025): 

Today sir Daniel explained earlier about our last assigment and told us to give the "proposal" next week so we can start earlier. After that, i consulted with him about my fabric, however the fabric that i dip into the tobbaco water isnt dark enough, but he ask for my opinion, do i think it is enough, and i think i will try to dip it one more time by using the tobacco water to ee if im able to darken it. I also tried to burn the fabric to see the result, but turns out the linen that i bought isnt cotton so rather than burned into ashes, it melts, and i tried on calico, it burns exactly like what i want, so i asked him if i can use calico and he said i can. Also, he told me to do the small laptop sleeve.

Week 5 (20/10/2025):

Week 6 (27/10/2025): 

Today we submit all the Task 1 compilation into the gdrive that he shared to us. He also mentioned to do a "mini" shoot of our laptop sleeve and uploaded to the proposal and gdrive before we submit it. Sir Daniel also said that he will check on our bag proposal on week 9, since this week he has no time for it.

Week 7 (03/11/2025): 

Today, we just finished visiting Life Line Clothing at Port Klang. Gaby, Erin, and I arrived at
the manufacturer around 9 am, and we started to explore guided by the owner (if im not mistaken) itself, which is Sir Andrew. First, he bring us to a room and we played Kahoot games as he also explained some informations about the company and also insights about sustainable fashion and fabrics. After that, he start the tour by bring us to the workshop and explained all of the process that they need to do before reselling and upcycling the clothes.

Week 8 (10/11/2025): 

Week 9 (17/11/2025): 

Today, Sir Daniel checked my LLCM presentation report, then continued to choose the design proposal for my ikea project. However, he thinks my ideas ar too basic so he gave another idea that was inspired by one of my bag design, which is the woven triangle bag. So i agreed, and try to sketch and also do the calico. However the outer bag kinda confusing for me so im planning to ask him next week.

Week 10 (24/11/2025): 

Today i continue to do my consultation with sir daniel since im still confused about how to do the weave bag. Turns out i think i need to redo the strips that i made before because it is not neat and not the exact  size with the ikea’s handle’s that i want to use. He advised me to do a precise measurements and for the toile, i need to use interfacing to have more stiff base. So i need to prepare things that he told me so next week he could tell me what to do. He also reminded us to not forget to do the proposal and print it out and told us that we need to have a proper shoot for our bag when it done in order to submit the assignment.

Week 11 (1/12/2025): 

Today, after by the things that he told me to buy, I consulted with sir daniel. He explained how to do the handles for the bag and told me to cut it using cutter so it is more neat. After cutting the handle, i need to use sand paper to smooth the edges and also need to cut two and each shandle sticked together with the foam by using double tape and smoothen the edges. After that, i was brainstorming how should i start the bag and i have figure out the method. However, im still not sure if its right or no, bu we will never know and understand until we try right? So i follow my heart and do it base on what i know.

Week 12 (8/12/2025): 

Today finaly start to do my actual for final project. after doing some consultation with him, i directly cut the ikea bags that i have, however turns out the yellow webbing cotton that i have its not enough, so while waiting anouther days for the yellow webbing cotton arrived, i start to do the other things that i colud do such as make the draw strings bag and also sew the base for the weaving bag. i also cut some of the weaving. Hopefully the yellow cotton webbing is arriving earlier so i can continue my project.


Week 13 (15/12/2025): 

Today he helped me to do the handle. First of all i need to cut both of the board and the “foam” like what i did previously on the prototype bag, then wrapped it with the ikea however, i need to make sure that all of the side get covered and also make sure the ikea sticked nicely by putting weight after gather all of them together. And finally i got my cutting webbing more so that i am able to continue my woven bag and finished it right away

Week 14 (22/12/2025): 

After doing the photoshoot last week, today is our submission and marking day, so i gathered all of the files including the promotion video with the presentation that has our proposal of our bag, also submit the physical bag to him.
