Week 6: Introduction to Pattern Making n Garment Making

In this 6th week, after making the skirt, now we are on the progress for making blouse(+sleeve). At first, Ms. Melina was explaining about types of collars and the anatomy of it, also explain about types of interfacing fabric and their functions, she also mentioned about facing and buttons. After that we continued to start making the blouse by making the master plan of the bodice, sleeves and the collar. Next week we are going to start to sewing, hopefully i can manage to do the sew in time.

 

Week 5: Introduction to Pattern Making n Drafting

 Finally we started to practically using the sewing machinee!!! Today we are learning how to make a skirt by using the skirt board box that we made few weeks ago. Firstly we need to transfer our block to the mahjong paper and giving few space for the allowance, next we cut it out and trace it again on to the calico and cut it. Then using the carbon paper to make a trace guidence so that when we statted to sew, it can guide us to make a neat sewing. After sewing and overlock some part of the skirts, i started to stick the interfacing paper for the zipper part on the fabric. I havent continue to sew the zipper yet because i forgot to bring my invisible zipper, but today ms melina just explain how to sew invisible zipper by using some tricks so it can look fine and neat.

Dart Manipulation Exercises

 

I really enjoy doing this exercise because while doing this exercise, I felt that I was crafting with origami paper since we meet to cut and also stick the paper. And these are my result for the three dart manipulation exercises and all of them using mid-shoulder dart manipulation method as the first step;

Week 4: Introduction to Pattern Making n Drafting

 

Another day of drawing and cutting pattern… today we are tracing some bodices and pants pattern on our board box and later we need to cut it, gather all of our blocks into a ring which i dont have so hopefully im going to buy it soon. Ms Melina also explain about dart manipulation which i found interesting because we can make different clothes with only cut an “open” “close” on the fabrics, she also remind us to always make a seam allowance so we have space to sew.

Week 3: Introducing to Pattern Making n Drafting

Today was quite hectic, since we have bunch of things to do. So we start from making sleeve using British method which is kinda complicated for me and she also explain another method which is called japanese method by Bunka school, and it is an easier method to make the sleeve. All of us need to do it in rush because we have other things to make such as the women pants blocks, the sewing homework and more. Hopefully i can do all the assignments quickly yet still accurate :”)

 

SPECIAL BLOG: Attending to “The Show Ethereal”

 

Last night is my first time attending to fashion show from my seniors and all of their collections are insane!! My friends and I were super excited to see the show, so almost all of us come faster since we don’t want to missed any show. Every time the models walked on the runway with their cool fits, we always amazed with the clothes, especially for me was Dania Ong’s collection that have unique hats and the iconic puffy white features on almost in every her collections. Congratulations of your graduation showcase to all of the senior and also congratulations to Feng Yie and Dania Ong for the most promising designer award!!
