Fashion Project 1
Week 1 (21/04/2025):
Finallyy back to nature!! Today is our first day for sem 2 and its been a while since i went to the studio. First class is Fashion project with our dearest Mr JR and when the class has just started, he announced that there will be our first show will be held and also competition from Oppo x Changee, and also Malaysia UNESCO. It quite exciting for me especially this is my first show and also first competition. The theme is about Malaysian Kebaya and JR explained about types of Kebaya Melayu (Kebaya Riau Pahang, Kebaya Pendek, Kebarung, Kebaya Nyonya, Kebaya Labuh, and Kebaya Kutubaru), also the project timeline. And for today he told us to decide our visualisation and the subject matter, so that next week we already draw 10 looks cuz next week their will be "client" come to see our project.
After thinking for a while, i think i will choosing shore line as my subject matter, inspired by how the water meet the sand forming a beautiful flowly pattern. But its not really fixed yet cuz i haven't ask JR's opinion, alos im still searching for another subject matter just for incase. Hopefully i can do better this semester and do my best.
Week 2 (28/04/2025):
Week 3 (05/05/2025):
In this week 3, we need to start our fabric manipulation sample which need to be done fast, however i havent started yet yesterday morning since im still processing and needed to discuss a bit with sir JR about how im going to do. After have a conversation with JR and showing some fabric sample that i pick from yesterday (sunday), now i have more vision what to do and acter the class finish i went to gio fabrics with some friends to buy the fabric that i need for my manipulation. Actually sir JR and i also havent decided which final design that im going to choose, thats one of the things that made me feel a bit anxious since everyone have their own final design. I showed JR my sketches and ask for his opinion and turns out he likes one of the top kebaya that i showed to him, but since the design in my opinion is not “click” yet for me so i tried to modify it (which i think it is better than before) but using the same concept of the top and hopefully he loves it and gives more advices.
Week 4 (holiday)
Week 5 (19/05/2025):
Since i havent finished my second and third sample last week, im trying to finished both of it today (hopefully :)), Actually im almost done with the second sample but however it doesnt turn out kinda nice since last week i was doing it with lot off pressure ( i need to change the sewing machine more than 3 times which wasting time and i dont have plenty time) and the outcomes is was kinda yeah.... afraid JR will comment anything so better i start the new one since i got more time to do hehehe. At the end of the day, i manage to finished both of my sample and also more revision for the sketch of the final since on tuesday (20/05/2025) we just got informed to re-do our colour pallete since oppo actually going to have purple-ish with light blue and slightly pink tone for their new phone :) everyone got upset especially, all of us already trying our best to do the design but almost at the last minute oppo just tell us their fixed colour, we cant do anything else other than changing from our mostly blue colour design to purple-ish colour.
Week 6 (26/05/2025):
This 6th week i began to start with the actual fabric and since i have cut almost of the pattern last weekend, this Monday i start to sew the skirt first. JR also announced a good news which says that oppo moving the due date til 19(?) of may , the thing is we have extra 1 or 2 more weeks, which is such a relieves for all of us. At first i want to start with the kebaya but because i cant start cus i haven't buy the double interfacing, i start with something i can start which is the skirt since i have cut all of the pattern of it. and i manage to almost finish half of the skirt and im targeting tomorrow (Tuesday) im going to finish the skirt or atleast done with gathering all of the part. Also sir fariq thought me on how to change the thread for the overlock machine.

Week 8 (9/06/2025):
Today is garment viewing day!! Was excited and nervous at the same time and when the experties come and saw my garment… well they like the top but not the skirt ( i actually loveee the skirtt) they said that the skirt doesn’t match with the top so i was advised to make a line or pencil skirt. After garment viewing, I continued to hand sew the lace around the waist and make view adjustments place for the hook n eye.
Week 9 (16/06/2025):
Today, i finally continued and finished my hook and eye kebaya, and sir JR suggested me to add diamonds on it since he already asked the kebaya expert is it fine or not. Sir Jr also remind us about the judgement day on this thursday and told us to finish our PPT soon which what am i doing right now. Im planning to do the gems tommorow, since i already buy it from ming hui since she has alot.
Week 10 (23/06/2025):
Finally this week all of us can be more chill since most of our kebaya are done. So I continue to do my marker and i had to redo one more time since at first i used the wrong side of the paper making the marker hard to be absorbed. And thankfully i able to finished the drawing and the sketch in one day, just need a bit detail with the white pen and im done.
Week 11 (30/06/2025):
Since last week i only cut for the outer side of the corset, today i make a new pattern for the facing. All i need to do is redraw the same pattern and later on, only cut the pattern 5 cm from the top of the pattern, anf after that i trace with carbon paper so it is easy for me to sew. Im going to continue it on Wednesday.
Week 12 (07/07/2025):
All of our kebaya project are done so JR told us to use fashion project to do our last assement fashion illustration. Today im doing all of my blogs first and discuss with JR about which one should i choose for my fashion editorial of kebaya reinvented. When i tried to sketch i realized that the details were kinda tricky since it is an AI Picture.
Week 13 (14/07/2025):
Today is another chill week ;) eventhough next week will be our presentation week. Today i have started to do the actual and actually the result is kinda weird cuz it looks like she got pox lol. JR said because when i do the first step which is the wash, i didnt let the paper absorb the water much, so when i do the water colour it started giving that effect.
Week 14 (14/07/2025):
Today is presentation day for our First Project. Everything went well and i didnt feel any nervous and since im the 4th student which making me finish earlier and i felt such a relief when i step out from the presentation room because finally im done doing the project after almost 3 months(?) of struggling and im proud of myself for finishing it. Sir Jr and also Ms Melina told me that i did a great work and have a good workmanship, however he advised and remind me that manipulation is not only about adding texture but also manipulate the pattern and i felt that in ,the next semster i need to design sometnhing that is more realistic(?) but not basic type of thing. Laslty i want to thank you to Ms Melina, Sir Jr and also Sr Fariq for all of the insight and also support that they gave to me, and also my friends who always cheering me up and myself who keep surviving even lot of tears hehehhe....
